[Reported by this newspaper] Recently, with the successful grid connection of the new main transformer at the 110kV Shenta Substation in Youxi, Sanming, Fujian Province, the nation's first 110kV "Super Grade 1" energy-efficient power transformer equipped with an "ultra-thin core" has officially been put into operation. This project was jointly developed by the State Grid Fujian Electric Power Research Institute and the China Electric Power Research Institute, with the State Grid Sanming Power Supply Company responsible for on-site installation and commissioning. Its successful commissioning fills a market gap in the field of high-efficiency transformers at this voltage level, injecting new momentum into the transformation of the power grid towards intelligence and green technology.
It is understood that the "Super Grade 1" energy-efficient transformer put into operation uses 0.20 mm ultra-thin grain-oriented silicon steel as its core component. This "ultra-thin core" is only the thickness of two A4 sheets of paper. Compared to the 0.23 mm silicon steel sheets used in traditional transformers, energy consumption can be as low as 0.60 watts/kg, with no-load loss and load loss reduced by 28% and 12% respectively, significantly improving power transmission efficiency and reducing the equipment's own energy consumption. Meanwhile, this transformer achieved a technological leap, increasing the magnetic induction performance of silicon steel sheets to over 1.93T and achieving a readily magnetizable microstructure ratio exceeding 95%, thus achieving a dual breakthrough in energy efficiency and performance.
Calculations show that this "super-level 1" energy efficiency transformer can cumulatively save 5.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, reduce the combustion of 1,600 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 4,400 tons over its 30-year lifespan. This effectively reduces grid losses, stabilizes power supply costs, and provides strong support for achieving "dual-carbon" goals. As the "heart hub" of the Youxi power grid, the main transformer upgrade and renovation of the 110 kV Shenta substation is a vivid example of the State Grid Sanming Power Supply Company's response to the national energy conservation and emission reduction policies and its efforts to build an environmentally friendly power grid. Its mature experience will provide a replicable and scalable model for the green and low-carbon transformation of the national power grid.
