China's First Ultra-High Voltage Cylindrical Transformer Successfully Commissioned, Boosting Power Grid Upgrade and Quality Improvement

Recently, China's first independently developed 220 kV ultra-high voltage cylindrical transformer was successfully commissioned in a key power grid project in East China. After 72 consecutive hours of full-load trial operation, all performance indicators have reached the international advanced level. The commissioning of this equipment has filled the technical gap in the field of ultra-high voltage cylindrical transformers in China and provided a new core equipment support for the upgrading and transformation of China's power grid.

According to the person in charge of the project R&D, compared with traditional laminated transformers, cylindrical transformers have significant advantages such as lower loss, lower noise and stronger short-circuit resistance. The ultra-high voltage cylindrical transformer developed this time adopts a new type of insulating material and an integrated winding structure design. The no-load loss is reduced by more than 35% compared with the national standard requirements, the noise level is controlled below 55 decibels, and the short-circuit resistance stability under extreme working conditions is increased by 40%, which can effectively improve the safety and economy of power grid operation.

The project took two years of research and development, bringing together the core technical forces of universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises. It has broken through a number of key technologies such as ultra-high voltage cylindrical winding winding and insulation molding, and obtained 12 national invention patents. During the R&D process, the equipment has passed strict environmental adaptability tests and performance limit tests, and can be widely used in new energy power station grid connection, urban power grid expansion, industrial load center power supply and other fields.

Industry experts said that the successful commissioning of the ultra-high voltage cylindrical transformer marks a leap forward in China's transformer manufacturing technology from "following" to "leading", which will further promote the transformation and upgrading of China's power equipment industry.
